Comments / thoughts of my trip to 3dx Bulgaria.
Having been asked to judge 3DX Bulgaria 2009, I did not know what to expect as I am not used to international travel.
I need not have worried as the whole experience was made superb by Javor.
I arrived at Bucharest Airport and was met by Javor, recognized by his 3DX hat.
The trip through Romania was very interesting to me and it did not take long for us to reach the hotel.
The accommodation provided by Javor was truly superb.
The location was wonderful, located in Bulgaria alongside the River Danube. The accommodation was of a very hi standard.
I met many friendly pilots at the Hotel that were all competing in 3dx Bulgaria.
I was taken to the flying site which was a huge airfield, already roped
off with many tents to protect us all from the rain or sunshine.
I found that all the competitors had a great attitude and flew to a high standard with well kept quality models.
The weather was very kind to us all for both competition days and at
the end we had a good result of first, second and third place pilots
who were all very deserving.
Not only was it a pleasure to meet up with all the organizers and
competitors, but also a good friend in the hobby, Tareq Al Saadi.
Tareq judged alongside myself as well as putting on constantly inspiring demonstrations throughout the weekend.
His flying has moved to another level since I saw him fly at 3dmasters in 2008!
He wowed us all with his low fast and very technical 3d.
I was honoured to be asked by Tareq if I would like to fly his Hirobo Turbulence 90.
After a few settings being changed to suit my tastes, I did indeed fly his machine and really enjoyed it.
I was not used to the feel and had not flown for many weeks, so I was a
little “rusty”, but even so, I managed to get some 3d flying done
finishing with an auto.
As well as good times during the competition, I had some very pleasant
time in the evenings hosted again by Javor and in the company of Tareq
and his technical helper.
To summarize my time in Bulgaria, it was a total pleasure to go and
judge this event and would like to think I might be invited back again
sometime to do it all again!
Thank you from me to Javor and everyone that helped make it happen.
Thanks to Tareq for inspiring us all and being such a nice man through
the weekend.
And finally, well done to all the pilots who flew in the competition.
You all can go away pleased with your flying and practice hard for next year.
Regards.. Simon
